Deciduous Trees

These are trees that lose their leaves seasonally for Nebraska this occurs during the winter months. Through the loss of leaves, it allows the plant to survive the winter conditions and conserve water. Many of these trees will produce flowers prior to leaf emergence (for those trees that bloom). Flowering during this time increases the effectiveness of pollination. Common deciduous trees found in Nebraska include: Maple, Oak, Elm, Aspen, Birch, and Cottonwood to name a few.
