The information below are the diseases currently being observed in the Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic.  Keep in mind that these are not all the diseases currently being seen in the field but are the ones being submitted to the clinic.  Thorough and precise scouting is key to maintain good crop health.

June 23 - June 27, 2008

Corn

Rhizoctonia root rot has been observed in Garfield county

Fusarium root rot has been observed in Garfield and Hall counties.

Soybean

Rhizoctonia root rot has been observed in Saunders county.

Fusarium root rot and Pythium root rot has been observed in Lancaster and Saunder counties.

Bacterial blight has been observed in Saunders and Sarpy counties.

Wheat

Black chaff, Septoria leaf blotch, Leaf rust, Tan Spot, Ascochyta leaf spot, Wheat streak mosaic virus and Barley yellow dwarf virus strain 2 was identified in Saunders county.

June 16 - June 20, 2008

Corn

Rhizoctonia root rot has been observed in Antelope and Platte counties.

Fusarium root rot has been observed in Platte county.

Goss's Bacterial Wilt has been observed in Custer county.

Soybean

Rhizoctonia root rot has been observed in Cuming county.

Wheat

Black Chaff has been observed in Keith county

Leaf Rust has been observed in Furnas county.

Powedery mildew has been observed in Furnas and Keith counties.

 

June 9 - June 13, 2008

Corn

Anthracnose leaf blight has been observed in Saline county.

Wheat

Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus has been observed in Red Willow county.

Head Blight (Scab) has been observed in Jefferson and Saunders counties.

Loose Smut has been observed in Harlan county.

Leaf Rust has been observed in Saline county.

Alfalfa

Spring Black Stem has been observed in Pierce county.

Wheat

Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus and Wheat Soil-Borne Mosaic Virus has been observed in Saline county.

Triticum Mosaic Virus has been observed in Red Willow county

Septoria Leaf Blotch and Powdery Mildew has been observed in Butler and Gosper counties.

May 19 - May 23, 2008

Corn

Pythium Root Rot has been observed in Hall county.

Wheat

Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus has been observed in Chase county.

Septoria Leaf Blotch has been observed in Webster county.

 

May 12 - May 16, 2008

Wheat

Triticum Mosaic Virus and High Plains Virus has been observed in Saunders county.

Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus has been observed in Harlan and Saunders counties.

 

May 5 - May 9, 2008

Wheat

Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus (Strain PAV and RPV) has been identified in Richardson county.

Triticum Mosaic Virus has been observed in Frontier, Keith and Red Willow counties.

Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus and High Plains Virus has been observed in Keith and Red Willow counties.

Wheat SoilBorne Mosaic Virus has been observed in Frontier county.

Septoria Leaf Blotch has been observed in Keith county.

 

April 28 - May 2, 2008

Wheat

Only one wheat sample was received in the lab this week.

Wheat SoilBorne Mosaic Virus has been observed in Buffalo county.

Septoria Leaf Blotch has been observed in Buffalo county.

April 21 - 25, 2008

Wheat
